Sturdy and stable substation automation

Field devices in the electrical power supply must withstand special environmental requirements, especially if the substation automation is used in high-voltage systems, highly vibrating or shock-generating system components or in environments with seismic hazards. That is why we have developed the BCU-50, a particularly robust field device that fulfils the requirements of modern substation control technology. Like all products from SAE IT-systems, the BCU-50 is characterised by high functionality and durability as well as enormous performance.

Complete ready-to-connect solutions

The BCU-50 can also be ordered as a complete, ready-to-connect solution on request. Based on precise specifications, we design and realise customised, neatly wired control cabinets that precisely meet the agreed requirement profiles. If required, delivery is made directly to the installation site.

Voltage and shock resistant

The net-line BCU-50 has been consistently developed in accordance with the DIN EN 61850-3 product standard. In accordance with this standard, it is suitable for locations such as power stations and medium-voltage stations ‘G’, high-voltage switchgear ‘H’ as well as for signal and field connections ‘f’ and connections to high-voltage connections ‘h’. The dielectric strength of the field device corresponds to class VW3 in accordance with IEC 60870-2-1. net-line BCU-50 also fulfils the high requirements of the standards with regard to shock resistance (DIN EN 60068-2-6), vibration resistance (IEC 60068-2-27) and seismic vibrations (EN 60255-21-3). This means that the system can also be used in earthquake-prone areas. The system cards, specially designed for tough use in the harsh environment of switchgear houses, substations and high-voltage installations, ensure safe operation.

High IT security with the net-line BCU-50

Like all series5e products, the BCU-50 stands for high IT security. It enables comprehensive IT security measures, as required in the current requirements profiles in the BDEW white paper and BSI recommendations. From the modern Linux kernel and extended firewall rules with granular authorisation through to user administration with free role assignment (RBAC): The BCU-50 allows an exceptionally high level of IT security.
